Summer is, without a doubt, one of the most eagerly awaited seasons for everyone. But we mustn’t let our guard down because, with the arrival of long nights, holidays and the beach, so does the sun, high temperatures and a climate against which we must protect ourselves so that we don’t have any scares. Here are our tips for a great season.
Sunscreen.
The first thing that comes to mind when we think of summer is the sun. Enjoying it is essential for our mood and organism, as exposure to the sun is necessary to obtain, among other things, vitamin D (necessary to absorb the calcium used by our bones). But too much sun carries serious health risks, ranging from sunburn to more serious conditions such as skin cancer.
- SPF factors between 10 and 30 are considered low to medium protection.
- SPF factors between 30 and 50 are considered medium-high protection.
- SPF factors 50+ are considered very high protection and, in general, will always be chosen over the rest.
The factor to use will depend on how prone our skin is to sunburn, although it will always be more advisable to use the highest protection. In the case of prolonged exposure to the sun – such as when we are at the beach – we should apply sun cream every two hours, and always when we get out of the water. It should be borne in mind that children’s skin is much more sensitive to the sun: for them we should always choose creams with SPF 50+ for children.

What about the face?
Protecting the face is just as important as protecting the body. If you don’t, the problems associated with the sun are not only the same, they are also more visible: spots may appear and skin ageing may accelerate. Facial sunscreens have the same protection factors as body sunscreens, but their composition includes components that are more suitable for facial skin, hypoallergenic and, above all, ophthalmological, to prevent those annoying eye irritations. In addition, the facial ranges offer products with colour, anti-wrinkle, moisturising and mattifying factors..Sun supplements
In addition to external protection, we can also prepare our body for the sun from the inside. Special food supplements contain a large amount of carotenes: substances with a high antioxidant power that, among other actions, block the excess of free radicals produced by ultraviolet radiation. We hope that all these tips have been of some use to you.
